The ASN supports Lassen National Park's Dark Sky Festival each August. It is our best outreach event of the year. Other public organizations including NASA will also participate. Telescope viewing (ASN), demonstrations and lectures are available on Friday and Saturday (August 2 and 3, 2019).
ASN members usually stay at the Summit Lake campground (7,000') and observe at the Bumpass Hell parking lot (8,200'), which has an amazing view. There will be a lot of people! Often there are lines at our telescopes.
You can read about the DSF on the park's website.
This Dark Sky Festival webpage is a part of the official Lassen Volcanic National Park Website. On this page you can find up-to-date information about dates, times, locations (including camping and lodging information), the program schedule of activities, and more.
