Hi, I thought I would put an article under the Membership/Treasurer category since I fill that role. I have been serving as a volunteer treasurer since the Fall 2009 elections. I am still learning my way around the job and Tim Burns has been a great help. I am hopeful that those who wish to renew online make use of the ASN website to do so. It will make membership renewal painless for members and the treasurer.

I have been a faculty members working in Networking/IT at the University of Nevada, Reno since 1989. I have been married for 30 years and my children are in their 20s. Besides astronomy, I love to backpack, take pictures, and sing. 

I am fairly new to astronomy. I had a crummy department store scope that I bought for the family in the 80s but it was a pain to use and I never was able to see much besides the planets and moon. I got the bug again about 4 years ago after I purchased a DSLR and decided it would be cool to take some astronomy pictures with it. It was a Celestron 80ED on a CG5 mount. The next year I bought myself a CPC925 for my 50th birthday. That's when I decided to find others interested in astronomy so I came to an ASN meeting. I got hooked in a hurry after that. 

Much of what I have learned has been online at the www.cloudynights.com site. I hope our ASN forums get a lot of activity and we get to know each other better as members of ASN. There is a lot a great expertise in the club and it's great to be able to learn from others.
