I got a similar weather report as well, and the clear sky charts showed almost exclusively clear skies for tonight. But, then it clouded over a while into the afternoon, and looks like 80-90% cloud cover in the 7 o'clock hour. I couldn't help wondering if we were still on for MacLean Observatory tonight. There were no further e-mails or website posts saying one way or the other. It'd be nice if plans were updated, especially when the forecast is way off, otherwise it's chaotic everyone-makes-their-own-guess.
I was looking forward to going tonight, but considering the 1st Friday one is on the extreme edge of town now, over 13 times further for me than it used to be, I'm not going to bother for mostly cloudy conditions (to say nothing of if no one is there). That's to be expected as we're back in the wet/cold/cloudy El Nino season. And I guess there's not much point to checking the weather reports, when they're off so far from the real conditions it's just about the exact opposite!
P.S. I just checked again, and it's now about 50% covered, just after 8. Chaotic. I wish someone would update the plans.
