Dear Members ASN
I am Jim Fahey the Outreach person for this club. In the August General meeting we voted to partner with the UNR Planetarium to prepare the Truckee Meadow’s community for the eclipse of the sun on May 20, 2012 at 5:05 PM. In the September general meeting it was voted that I make a committee to see what we can do for the Truckee Meadows. My thoughts are these:
See attached flyer:
We have one person as a point of contact for each of the following; Television and radio station; local print media, ie news papers; clubs ie, Elks, Moose etc.; speakers for schools
A principle whole sale person for the solar sun glasses to the many different organizations.
A technical crew for; film, digital, and video to test and have ready to teach the public how to record this event and help local TV and news papers.
Helpers for Tim and Jeff to get Channel 5 to broadcast to Miami’s Public TV. Maybe even help commercial TV do the same for the nation.
Power point presentations writers.
I am the point of contact for the Washoe County School District.
I am the coordinator for the people helping above.
If you would like to be part of this committee please e-mail me. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (I like a paper trail to follow rather than scratch notes from a telephone call. Just my thing.) If you do not want to be on the committee but would like to volunteer to help, please e-mail me. Depending on the sale of solar sun glasses we may have some stipends for members to keep our non-profit status. Come join the effort to put this club on the map until the next eclipse!
Jim
