How well do you know the Milky Way? During the Planetarium’s special evening benefit, popular Sierra star guide and poet Tony Berendsen will debut his new poem "The Milky Way" and discuss what we know about our home galaxy. What are its beginnings, structure and what is going on in our galactic neighborhood? In a full-dome presentation with the Planetarium’s state-of-the-art digital projector, Berendsen will take stargazers on a wonderful journey through space.

Telescope viewing at the Planetarium after the talk will be provided by Tahoe Star Tours and Celestron Telescopes, weather permitting. The event is open to adults and children of all ages. Come join the fun and help the Planetarium, too!

When: Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 7 p.m.

Where: Fleischmann Planetarium on the University of Nevada, Reno campus

Admission: $10 per person for adults and children of all ages. Proceeds will go to support Planetarium programs.
